I created Teepee Theatre after gaining many years’ experiences in my academic studies as well as working in both special and mainstream schools as a TIE (Theatre In Education) actress. Having toured with different theatre companies, performing in shows for students in nursery through to senior level and leading workshops both in Britain and abroad, I have developed a great understanding of what makes effective theatre.
Having worked in both mainstream and special schools, I gained valuable insight into how theatre can make a difference in learning. Over the years, I’ve learned what engages students and what helps them stay focused and motivated.
Now, after having four children of my own and witnessing firsthand what helps them learn and interests them, I decided to utilise all my experience and education in this field to welcome young students into the world of educational theatre, especially those who, like me, may struggle to stay focused in class and learn best through active participation.
As a mother of four, I have experienced first-hand how difficult it can be to engage a child in learning.
I understand that every child is different but know that through a caring and positive environment every child can thrive and progress.
I really do believe that active participation through theatre can bring confidence to a child while also sparking their curiosity and creativity. It ultimately brings about a joyful and memorable experience they can take away as a positive.
